cancer research

"I was diagnosed in 2012 with a very rare neuroendocrine tumour. And I'm extremely thankful to have survived 13 years and still counting. Together let's wage hope and change the statistics for pancreatic cancer and save lives."

- Mark, Remember September participant

"Remembering my daughter Dr Jasmine Mrsa who died 2 years after diagnosis, aged 39, leaving the love of her life and her 3 children aged 10, 8 and 6. She lived her best life and was dearly loved by family, many friends and her GP patients. I’m taking part in Remember September to raise money for pancreatic cancer research, in the hope that a diagnosis in the future can have a positive outcome."

- Wendy, Remember September participant

"Walking gave me focus. It gave me purpose. I wanted people to know the signs and symptoms for pancreatic cancer. And I wanted to make Matt proud."

- Tracy, Remember September participant

"I take part in Remember September to honour all the wonderful people I've been lucky enough to meet on my pancreatic cancer journey. From the researchers, doctors, surgeons through to friends, family, pets, and of course the patients at the national pancreatic cancer support group this is my way of showing my solidarity. We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.

We will remember them.
We will honour them.
We will fight for them.

Pancreatic cancer takes 78 lives every week in Australia. So this September, we're remembering those we've lost and standing with those impacted by pancreatic cancer.

I

In loving memory of my dear friend, Valerie Joy Ramshaw, who passed away last week following a stoic battle against pancreatic cancer. RIP my dear friend until we meet again ๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Meredith

Walking for you dad, miss you ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Carla

Remember September means I can contribute in a very small way to help researchers in finding a screening test to help find Pancreatic Cancer much sooner, in turn giving those affected a much better chance at successful treatment options.

Cheryl Skamp

I'm running 78 km in September in memory of my Dad

Wendy Whitechurch

Iโ€™m walking to honour all of those currently fighting, and in remembrance of those we have lost. Letโ€™s walk for a cure!

Remember September, Iโ€™m doing this for three people I personally know who have all lost their lives to pancreatic cancer. My beautiful Mother in Law, Helena. My Aunty Linda. My neighbour and friend Garry and sadly many more people I donโ€™t know. Bringing awareness to pancreatic cancer, #Striving to make a difference. #Nearly there #78 Kโ€™s

Bianca

EXCITED!!! Almost there.

Melanie Levy

For my Mum, Jenny. It is so hard to believe I am posting on a tribute wall for you and like everyone else on here, you are not supposed to be here. Mum was diagnosed on my birthday in October 2024 and passed Boxing Day 2025. 9 months of missing you every day. Mum was such a kind and caring soul and loved getting to know everyoneโ€™s story from the people closest to her to people she met in the community. She always had a way of finding a connection with everyone. Deeply loved Mum, wife, mother in law, nanny, daughter, sister, family member, friend and colleague. Remembered always ๐Ÿ’œ

Marie Sams

For my beautiful Mum - Lucia McQuade - the best Mum and the most incredible Lola. ๐Ÿ’œ She was an amazing wife, mother, Lola and friend, and such a beautiful person who gave so much to our family, friends and community. She had a way of making people feel loved and cared for and her absence is still felt so deeply by so many. Pancreatic cancer took her from us far too soon, but it could never take away the love, memories and legacy she left behind. Everything I do to raise awareness is for my Mum, in the hope that one day other families are given more time than we were. Loved beyond words. Missed beyond measure. Forever our Mum and Lola. ๐Ÿ’œ

Anne-Marie Wilson

In memory of my brother Richard who is always in our hearts ๐Ÿ’œ

Joanna Patching

Walking this September to remember my beautiful mother, Hazel Patching.

Leanne

Walking for my cousin Jo, who is fighting Pancreatic cancer ๐Ÿ’œ

IN MEMORY OF STEWART GIBB-CUMMING โ€œStu from the Zooโ€ 2018 I made my living with pictures. Stu taught me to think in words. I met Stewart in 1994. By the time pancreatic cancer took him in 2018, he had been part of my life for 24 years. Before meeting Stu, Iโ€™d attended AWARD School โ€” the Advertising Writers and Art Directors School. As someone who naturally sees in pictures, I was surprised to discover how much I enjoyed copywriting. I became fascinated by the ability of a few carefully chosen words to make someone stop, look, think โ€” or see a picture differently. Then I met Stu from the Zoo. Stu was an old-school advertising man in the very best sense. Heโ€™d worked in the big agencies before establishing his own boutique design agency, The Creative Zoo. He was also a brilliant copywriter. Stu took that early fascination I had with words and gave it somewhere to grow. He taught me to appreciate a great headline, a clever turn of phrase and, perhaps most importantly, the literal meaning of words โ€” choosing them carefully and saying precisely what you mean. Stu gave a specialist photographer an advertising mind. That stayed with me throughout my career. I loved creating the photograph, but also thinking about the idea around it โ€” the headline, the catchphrase, the few words that might make somebody stop long enough to look. But Stuโ€™s influence on me went far beyond work. He took me under his wing near the beginning of my career. He became a significant client, later a tenant in my photographic studio, a mentor and a close friend. He was one of the few people who really knew me across both my professional and personal worlds. He understood how I worked, what drove me, my strengths and probably plenty of my weaknesses too. The last time I saw Stu properly, I took him to lunch for old timesโ€™ sake. Weโ€™d shared many work lunches over the years and, at the time, things seemed hopeful. He was apparently beating pancreatic cancer and looking forward to getting out and about again. A few months later, he returned to hospital to have a port fitted to begin further chemotherapy. He developed an infection and died just a week later. His family generously allowed me to visit him in hospital. He was unconscious by then, but I was able to sit beside my old friend one last time, just a few days before he died. Now pancreatic cancer has entered my life again, I find myself thinking about Stu more often. A brilliant copywriter would probably know exactly how to finish this. I wish you were still here to write the line, Stu. But perhaps the simplest words are the right ones. My mentor. My friend. Stu from the Zoo. This September, Iโ€™m walking for you too.

Im doing my 4th Remember September walk for my late husband who passed away 4 yrs & 4 mths ago. Each step i do I remember what a beautiful man he was to me & our family. He passed away 40 days after he was diagnosed & this cancer is just horrible. He worked at Fire Rescue NSW for 32 years & Neil always said he would pass from cancer. I hope we can raise enough money so that Pancreatic cancer is at the bottom of the cancer not the 3rd.

Sandra Klein

Woohoo! After 4years of being on Gemcitabane for Pancreatic Cancer comeback in my Liver in 2022. Due to my scans being clear and blood results within normal range for a year now, I am now able to take a break until January when if my results are still good I maybe able to continue the break. So please don't ever give up hope, no matter the diagnosis. This group has helped keep me stay positive and focused on my own health journey.

For my mum who I am more and more proud of each and every day. I love you more.

My Dad is a fighter and is the strongest man I know Love you and so proud of you Dad xx

Eva Jones

This September, Iโ€™m walking 78 kilometres in honour of my beautiful mum, Eva, who sadly lost her life to this awful disease in 2010. Mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and bravely fought it for five months before we lost her. Watching her go through it was heartbreaking, and losing her has left a space in my life that can never be filled. Even after all these years, I still miss her and often wish I could have just one more conversation with her. I miss you, Mum. Always. ๐Ÿ’œ

Garry Gannell

It's not even halfway through the month, and yet I've reached the 78 km target. I know that 78 km was a low target, but I felt that I had to choose a low target because I had no idea how far I could walk, having spent the last 9 months as my beautiful wife's caregiver and not doing any exercise at all. But, I've been able to walk each day, and will continue to walk because every step helps me to remember Liz. Liz was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 31st August 2025, and passed away on 9th August 2026. Liz fought every step of the way, and every step I take is in memory of her. Every step I take, I hope, acts as a tiny step towards medical experts being able to find a way of diagnosing pancreatic cancer earlier, of finding effective treatment for this rotten disease, and helps make the world a better place for those who are suffering from this cancer. In memory of Liz Gannell, my wife, my best friend, mother of our children, grandma to our grandkids, and greatly missed.

Love and miss you Dad ๐Ÿ’œ

My fabulous husband and best friend survived 5 years from his diagnosis but still left us far too young. Like so many, his diagnosis came far too late for a cure. With new innovations in treatment and diagnosis let's hope that it won't be long before a cure can be found

Helen Grierson

Not only did she lose her son to this terrible disease but my marvellous Mother in Law also succumbed to this 9 years later. And my poor Sister in Law nursed them both. How terrible for her to deal with the loss of 2 special members of her family.

2yrs ago this month, I went from 105kg to 60kg, a massive growth on my Pancras was push up and blocking off my bile duct, they tried several times to put in a temporary stint, but could not get it due to the position of the growth, then advised they would need to remove the mass from my Pancras, just leaving the tail and after they remove it they will inspect for cancer, after several days/weeks the operation was carried out. Thank the lord, I was given a second chance, it was autoimmune mass. I did a lot of praying, thoughts and dreams. Many will not have that chance. Please help me raise money to fund a cure for this awful disease to save more people in the future.

Vicki Staunton

We lost our beautiful Mum, Carmel Galvin, 15 years ago to this awful disease. Her diagnosis and journey all seemed surreal at the time I wish I had realised earlier what it really meant. She still had so much life to live and share with so many people. She always volunteered her time to coach and help others we miss her every single day ๐Ÿ’•

Debra Valente

In loving memory of my beautiful Mum, Ronda โค๏ธ It has been 29 years since pancreatic cancer took my beautiful Mum from us far too young, at just 51 years of age. ๐Ÿ’” So much time has passed, yet the love never fades and neither does the longing to have you here for all the moments you should have been part of. This September, every kilometre I walk is for you, Mum โ€” for your memory, for the love you gave us, and in the hope that one day other families wonโ€™t have to experience the heartbreak that pancreatic cancer brought to ours. Forever loved, forever missed and forever in my heart. โค๏ธ Love you always, Mum. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Iโ€™m fundraising for pancreatic cancer in memory of my beautiful dad, who I sadly lost to this devastating disease. Ciara Donegan

In remembrance of our patient Tony, who we were lucky enough to call a friend. A wonderful man who was beyond grateful for everything, never failed to make a nurse laugh or smile and will be very much missed. Tony sadly passed away on the 4th of September from Pancreatic Cancer.

My sister Cheryl was intelligent, fun-loving and brave. She fought pancreatic cancer with courage only occasionally feeling 'in the dumps'. Even going through her battle, she would listen to other's troubles and still be there to cheer someone else and have a laugh. Cheryl loved life and lived life to the full. She raised 3 children, travelled the world, and worked in a wide variety of jobs - being a teacher, real estate agent, and pharmaceutical rep among them. Cheryl I will always remember you and the fun we had together and will miss you always.

Darlene Anderson

I am doing the 78 kn walking challenge as a tribute to my beautiful mum who I lost to Pancreatic Cancer. I miss her everyday. Thankyou for supporting this great cause.
