Walking for Steve & fighting for others to have more time.

This September, I’m walking 78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer every week.

In February 2020, my father-in-law Steve went from living a completely normal life to taking his final breath just two weeks later. We received his pancreatic cancer diagnosis while he was in ICU — just two days before he died.

Steve loved plane spotting, photography and telling terrible jokes at family dinners. He was also a proud dad who loved being on the sidelines of his middle son’s football games, camera in hand.

He never got to meet his first grandchild. Passing while I was around 18 weeks pregnant with his first grandchild.

Pancreatic cancer is brutal. Steve’s story is not uncommon. This cancer id often diagnosed too late, and it’s now the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia, with 12 Australians diagnosed every single day.

But research can change that.

So this September, I’m walking 78km in honour of Steve and the thousands of Australians whose lives are cut short by this disease.

Please donate if you can. Every dollar helps fund research towards earlier detection, better treatments and, ultimately, more time with the people we love.

We will remember them.
We will honour them.
We will fight for them.

💜 Thank you Ellie Samagalski, for remembering Steve in this way. I wholeheartedly support your efforts. 💔 It certainly was the toughest 17 day journey we have ever encountered as a family.
