Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer
This September, I'm walking 234km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 234km to fight this terrible disease.

Friday 11th Sep 83 down, 145 to go. This has been a real effort. My feet, ankles and hips are screaming at me. I don’t want to hit that pavement but no one wants to fight pancreatic cancer either. I can do this and the commitment to this cause is the driver for me. I envy those with a walking buddy because I love a chat. I’m grateful to my phone friend, Karen, who chats to me throughout my walks, and to my teammate and daughter, Carmen, who joined me for a brisk walk one morning. Week 1 done
Monday 7th Sep This is quite a challenge. Yesterday, I was trying to get ahead in my kms and I was chatting with Carmen as we walked. She reminded me that we are doing this for her Nonna, my mother. That made me think about mum and how if anyone needed help, she was there with her hand up. Whilst we are doing this in her memory, I guess it’s a way for her to still be helping others as well.
Day 1
Wednesday 2nd Sep I really don’t walk a lot so yesterday was the start of a real commitment. I managed to achieve 9km with 4 walks throughout the day. I’m guessing I will be healthier after this but I’m certainly reminded that mum didn’t complain nearly half as much as I do.Thank you to my Sponsors

She loved spending time with her grandchildren. They were never any trouble, even if they were. She was always there to help out, even if she was busy. She loved them with her heart and soul, even when she had something else on her mind. They all miss her, more than she could know. 💜
