Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer
This September, I'm running 100km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week, including my Mum Lorna.
Mum had only 4 weeks between receiving her sudden diagnosis and passing away, on September 20 last year. It was brutal watching this aggressive cancer take hold of her and it was a devastating feeling being completely helpless and unable to do a thing about it.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancers, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and run 100km to fight this terrible disease.
I'm also running a half marathon at the Geelong Running Festival on 20th September, which happens to be the first anniversary of when Mum passed away. Running has been the one thing that has helped me navigate the immense grief I’ve felt over the past year.
