For a future without pancreatic cancer
This September, I’m walking 78km.
78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer every week.
But really, I’m walking for Mum.
Losing her to pancreatic cancer is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You never really understand what a disease like this takes from a family until it is your family.
I wish we had more time. More options. More hope. I wish pancreatic cancer hadn’t been part of our story at all.
I can’t change our story, but I can do something in Mum’s memory that might help change someone else’s.
So I’m walking.
For the 12 Australians diagnosed every day. For the families hearing words they never wanted to hear. For better treatments, earlier detection and, hopefully, a future where pancreatic cancer doesn’t take so many people from the people who love them.
