Walking for Pancreatic Cancer Research 💜

This September, Mum and I are taking on a challenge to support pancreatic cancer research — and for us, this one is particularly close to home.

I’ll be walking 78km throughout September, representing the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer every week. Alongside the walking challenge, I’m also giving up one of my vices — potato chips — for the month.

Mum has recently had a hip replacement, so she’s chosen the option to Give Up a Vice challenge instead, giving up chocolate for September. She’ll be doing it for someone very special to her — a close friend who has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancers. Because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, it is often diagnosed too late, and the survival rates remain devastating.

Every day, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and it is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.

But research can change this.

That’s why we’re taking on this challenge. We hope to raise much-needed funds for research that can lead to earlier detection, better treatments and, ultimately, improved survival rates.
