Steps for Papou
Wednesday 12th Aug This September, I'm taking on the Remember September challenge to raise vital funds for pancreatic cancer research. But for me this isn't just about hitting a fitness goal. My Papou is currently celebrating his 30th year cancer free after surviving pancreatic cancer. If you know anything about this disease, you know how rare that is. He is one of the longest-living survivors in the world. If it wasn't for the incredible medical team who diagnosed and treated him 30 years ago, I never would have had the chance to meet him, love him or grow up with him. Now, as a nursing student on hospital placement I see first hand how vital early intervention and medical research are to saving families. I am aiming to smash the 156km goal this month, tracking every step directly through my phone. Every dollar raised goes to PanKind to help increase pancreatic cancer survival rates so that more grandchildren get the chance to meet their grandparents.
