My target 78 kms
10 years on...
My name is Mia and this September, I'm walking 78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
I will be walking in memory of my dad, Bienvenido.
Dad lost his battle to pancreatic cancer back in July, 2016.Â
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
I know first hand how tough it is to see a loved one fight an aggressive cancer as pancreatic cancer.
The despair I felt at the time, seeing dad get diagnosed at a late stage and go through treatment, having little time left with him, is something I hope no-one ever has to go through again.Â
Research can change this. Your support will go directly into funding groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 78km to fight this terrible disease.
Please make a donation to support me, in hopes for a future without pancreatic cancer.Â
We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.

One of my favourite memories of Tito Dodi would be from one of the many road trips from Syd to Melbourme, and I was groggily walking downstairs into your kitchen and there was an entire breakfast spread out and your dad was like “eat!!!” And I was a full Filo spread of food, I never felt hungry in Melbourne. I still can’t wrap my head around how our parents managed to fit both our families in the Hoppers Crossing house, but it felt like a second home everytime we were there because of your dad 💛 So proud of you, Mia! Your advocacy for your Father would make him so joyfully proud of you. God bless and good luck with the 78km (that’s over 2.5km everyday!)
