Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm walking 75km for the 75 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.

Pancreatic cancer is the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.

But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 75km to fight this terrible disease.

Please make a donation to support me, and together...

We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.

I had cancer, cancer never had me.

Monday 4th Aug
In December 2019, my good friend Jez passed away from pancreatic cancer leaving behind his beautiful wife Katrina and their 3 children.
Last September, it appeared that I too had contracted pancreatic cancer. With carrying the BReast CAncer (BRCA) 2 mutation gene, my chances of pancreatic, prostate & breast cancer are increased.
With various cancers frequenting my family on a regular basis, it had  unexpected that I would contract one too. I had counted myself lucky I had passed 61 years of age and never been seriously ill.
Fortunately, my cancer was stage 3 Ampullary cancer and it had not reached my pancreas. My only chance to survive was to undergo chemotherapy and a pancreaticoduodenectomy. A big operation for a big word although it is commonly called a Whipple Procedure.
After the Whipple was performed at the beginning of March 2025, I underwent more chemotherapy.
Today, I was told by my oncologist that I am cancer free. Of course I will have to go for regular tests in the future.
Knowing my older brother died in February 2024 from brain, liver, lung and blood cancers I will need to be vigilant.
My personal mantra on my cancer journey has been, “I have cancer, cancer doesn’t have me!”
