Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer
Ten years ago this year my husband Peter passed away from pancreatic cancer, 6 months after diagnosis. He was 55 years old and we had moved into our dream home just 2 months before his diagnosis.
Last year I walked 75 kilometres from our home in Maitland to our favourite holiday destination, Shoal Bay, to remember the 75 people who lose their lives to pancreatic cancer every week in Australia.
This year I’ll be doing it again but adding another 3 kilometres because we are now remembering 78 people who lose their lives to pancreatic cancer every week. That statistic alone raises the stakes and raises the importance of the work Pankind do in supporting research and supporting people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and their carers.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancers, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates so I’d love you to support my walk, Pankind’s Remember September campaign, and all the people whose lives have been impacted by a cancer that urgently needs to have better outcomes.
Please make a donation to support me, and together...
We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.
