Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer
My name is Lily Herden, and I am a 16-year-old from Western Australia.
Four years ago, my grandad, Wayne Herden, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After an incredibly brave and courageous battle, he sadly passed away on 23 January 2026.
My grandad was my hero and someone I will look up to for the rest of my life. He was the definition of selfless—a true family man who always put everyone else before himself. He and my nan, Merrilyn, shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centred on love, faith, and family. Together they created a home where everyone was welcome, and their unwavering love and commitment were an inspiration to everyone who knew them. He found joy in the simple things: tending to his beautiful garden, caring for his many animals, and playing golf every Tuesday with his best friend, Ted. He touched the lives of so many people, and not a day goes by that he isn’t deeply missed.
This September, I’ll be running 78 kilometres throughout the month in his memory and in support of the thousands of Australians currently facing pancreatic cancer. While I can’t change what happened to my grandad, I hope I can help make a difference for other families by raising funds for research, support, and awareness.
My goal is to raise $1,200, and every donation—no matter how big or small—will help bring us closer to better treatments, earlier detection, and, one day, a cure for this devastating disease.
If you’re able to support my fundraiser, I would be so incredibly grateful. Together, we can honour my grandad’s memory, celebrate the incredible life he lived, and help bring hope to those still fighting.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. 💜
