Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm walking 78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week and especially to remember my beautiful nephew, Ian. 

Rest In Peace "E", forever loved. ❤️

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancers, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.

But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 78km to fight this terrible disease.

Day 18

Friday 18th Sep
My day 18 was full of lots of different walks for our "E". I did a walk before my walk to the pool and back then a walk around Coles for shopping! Later, we walked to happy hour and back totalling 4.1km for today. 💜

Day 17.

Thursday 17th Sep
My day 17 Remember September for "E" began with a 2km walk around the village and then a number of smaller walks to make a total of 3.4km for today. I had a few visits to the centre and the caravan, so I counted those walks too! 💜

Day 16.

Wednesday 16th Sep
DAY 16. My day 16 walk for "E" began with my walk to the pool and after that a walk with Andrew around the village. Later this arvo another walk made my total for today, 3.1km. 💜

Day 15.

Tuesday 15th Sep
Day 15. My day 15 walk for our "E" today was a total of 2.6km which is my minimum for each day. I walked 1.4km before walking up to Art Group and back, another .3km. Tonight after Tuesday Chicken, I did another .9km! 💜

Day 14.

Monday 14th Sep
My day 14 walk started when I walked to the pool. After my swim we did a 1.6km walk before lunch. Much later, we did another 1.3km walk in the evening, making a total of 3.1km for my day! 💜

Day 13.

Monday 14th Sep
My day 13 was a bit of a lazy Sunday. We slept in after a very late night last night. My 1.4km walk in the morning was interspersed by a visit with friends in the village. Later in the arvo we had a 1.4km walk to make a total of 2.7km. 💜

Day 12.

Saturday 12th Sep
DAY 12. My day 12 began with a lovely 2.2km around the village, chatting with a few walkers out and about in the balmy air. I have met some residents who have been touched by pancreatic cancer, either with family or friends, it touches so many lives! My photo was taken while finishing my walk for today making a total of 3km. 💜

Friday 11th Sep
My day 11 was just enough today at 2.8km. I did some more work in the garden as the day was so nice and it's where I like to think about the loved ones we've lost.

Day 10.

Thursday 10th Sep
My day 10 was a bit less today, only 2.3km, I was .3 short of my minimum for each day. I do have a buffer though. I wanted to fill my green bin as it's collected tomorrow and there were some flag lilies that I wanted to take out. All done but my back was pretty tired afterward, so just a short walk this arvo! 🤔

Day 9.

Wednesday 9th Sep
My day 9 walk for "E" today was 5.35km as I did 2 walks around the village and I counted our walk around Bunnings. 32km so far 46km to go!

Day 8.

Tuesday 8th Sep
Beginning of week 2. My walk for E total was 3.1km today and I am pleased to say I am 2.4 days (6.2kms) above my goal. E keeps spurring me on! 💜

Day 7.

Monday 7th Sep
Today would have been E's 58th Birthday and we were invited to Wesburn for a celebration of E. His two beautiful daughters, his much loved Mum, Dad,sister in law and Uncle, joined me on a 2.4 km walk along the bike track for Remember September! Unfortunately, E's sister was unable to join us as she is unwell and so disappointed to not be with us. We all enjoyed dinner together with a Birthday toast for E. My walk total today was 3.5km.

Day 6.

Sunday 6th Sep
My walk total for today was 3.2km and my thoughts on this Father's Day were of Norm, our brother in law. He has lost 2 sons now. Len to heart disease and this year, Ian, "E" to pancreatic cancer. A Father's Day changed forever. 😔💜

Day 5.

Saturday 5th Sep
My day 5 walk started out well at 1.8km. Then late in the day I clocked .937km from home to the village centre via a couple of roads. on again around a couple more roads to home where I realised my phone had run out of battery. I had to get on to google maps to work out the last distance!! 🤔 The outcome for today is 3.2km, not as far as I would like but I have done 17km in 5 days, not too bad for me! 🥵

Day 4.

Friday 4th Sep
My day 4 walk of 3.65km has been my best so far. It's challenging but E keeps me going! I have done 14kms now. 🚶‍♀️

Thursday 3rd Sep
My day 3 walk of 3.3km completed just short of my best walk, 3.43km. I would like to better this total if I can! 😊

My 2nd day completed with 3.24 done. I am well within my target and happy with my progress. 😊

A Tribute To E's Family and Friends

I am so thrilled with the response to my Challenge for Remember September Pankind. E was an awesome part of our amazing extended family. If Mum and Dad could possibly know of how we look out and care for each other, they would be so proud. I  will be doing my very best for our E in September and I know he will be walking beside me.
