My target 78 kms
Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer
This September, I'm walking 78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week. I'm also doing it in memory of dad who died 22 years ago, and my two aunties who also succumbed to it. That's 3 out of a sibling group of 4! (I'm also doing this in support of someone close to famkly who's currently battling this insidious disease.)
Additionally, signing up for this walking challenge prompted me to finally complete my enrolment in a pancreatic cancer research project. Due to my strong family history, this is an act of self-care. Plus, it felt hypocritical to raise funds for research and not participate in it myself.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancers, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 78km to fight this terrible disease.
Please make a donation to support me, and together...
We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.
