My target 78 kms

Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

This September, I’m walking 78km for the 78 Australians who lose their lives to pancreatic cancer every single week. But for me, this challenge is much more personal than a number. 💜

I’m walking for my mum, Liz.

My mum lost her life to pancreatic cancer on 14 November 2023, and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t wish we had been given more time with her. I would give anything to be able to pick up the phone and call her again, tell her something completely insignificant, hear her voice, or have one more ordinary day with her.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancers. Because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, it is often diagnosed far too late. Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed every day, and pancreatic cancer is the third biggest cancer killer in Australia.

Behind every one of those statistics is a person. A mum. A dad. A partner. A sibling. A best friend. A family whose lives are changed forever.

For me, that person is my mum.

So this September, every kilometre I walk will be for her. For the life she lived, for the memories she left us with, and for all the moments I wish she was still here for. But I’m also walking for every family who has heard the words pancreatic cancer, and for the hope that one day, those words won’t carry the same devastating prognosis.

Research can change the future. Funds raised through this challenge will support pancreatic cancer research and help improve survival rates so that, hopefully, more families get something ours desperately wanted — more time.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, I would be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t donate, sharing my page means just as much. 💜

78km. 78 Australians. One very special reason for me.

For Mum. Always. 🕊️💜

We will remember them.
We will honour them.
We will fight for them.
