Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

8 months ago today, I lost my mum to her battle with Pancreatic cancer. My mum was my spark in life , my inspiration and my best friend. The hole it has left in mine and my family’s heart will last a lifetime.

Every two hours, an Australian is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and of that only 14% are surviving this diagnosis.

Pancreatic cancer is a particularly insidious disease that still has no cure or viable treatment plan. Watching my mum suffer and deteriorate beyond recognition with no hope she would live out another year was devastating.

But that didn’t stop mum fighting for just another day with her favorite people, day sitting in the sun , in the garden or just another swim.

Mum fought this cancer bravely , never letting her diagnosis change the way she impacted the world around her. So in her memory I’d like to raise funds for a cause close to my heart.

In September I will be participating in Pankinds remember September by pledging to swim 45 km in the month to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.

To those who knew mum , understood her passion for the ocean and swimming. I’ve chosen to swim at the pool where she swam most mornings and where I learnt to swim. Every lap I swim this month will be in her memory.
