Supporting Our 'Remember September' Charity Challenge - for our Mum

Every September, the cancer foundation, Pankind undertake an enormous fundraising effort with one very ambitious goal; to triple survival rates of pancreatic cancer by 2030. Pankind is Australia's only organisation dedicated exclusively to improving outcomes by those affected by this disease. Their goal is to fund lifesaving research into the cancer and to change the narrative on pancreatic cancer.

On 10th November 2025, my Mum passed away after a 19 day intensely painful battle with pancreatic cancer. 19 days, that's all we had.
No symptoms, no signs... nothing that medicine or we could do once that diagnosis came far too late.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest cancers to beat, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating. At the moment in Australia, 56% of cases are diagnosed at Stage 4, where the survival rate beyond 5 years is 2-3%. These are rates that haven't changed in 40 years.

Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day and each week, an average of 78 will pass away. It is the 3^rd biggest cancer killer in Australia. Yet, it remains the most underfunded and under-researched. Pankind plan to end this, starting with 78kms.

So this September, every member of my very large family are committing to walk their own 156kms over the month. Thought we may as well double it.
