Support my challenge to fight pancreatic cancer in honour of Mum
This September, I'm walking (and maybe running a bit of) 71km for the 71 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
I lost my beautiful mum, Sharon (pictured), to pancreatic cancer in March 2021. She was 59.
She was diagnosed six months earlier in September 2020. By the time she showed symptoms and was diagnosed it was already too late.
We miss her every day.
Pancreatic cancer is now the 4th biggest cancer killer in Australia, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow, there is only a 12.5% chance you'll be alive in 5 years. 80% of people diagnosed die within 12 months.
But research can change this. Your support will fund life-saving pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk (and maybe even run a portion of) 71km to fight this terrible disease.
