Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm walking 78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.

But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 78km to fight this terrible disease.

Please make a donation to support me, and together...

We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.

My Updates

Day 11

Friday 11th Sep
After walking the dog there were 2 sessions of teaching swimming followed by 2 hours of census work. why is it that there is one dwelling in one street and one dwelling in another street- they are so spread out. I also gave a theory that people who live on top floors of unit blocks are reluctant to fill in the form meaning I have to climb the stairs to knock on their doors. It’s a real first world problem.

Day 10

Thursday 10th Sep
Not much walking today- quick walk with the dog, a swim shift and then a walk to and from the car park at Sydney Opera House. this is an effort in itself to find your car.

Day9

Thursday 10th Sep
Not much moment today- after taking the dog for a walk it was some cleaning up and walking around the house before going out to dinner to farewell a work colleague.

Day 7

Monday 7th Sep
My legs were stiff today and after sitting for a while had to hobble around until my legs relaxed. I assumed it was going up and down stairs in units chasing up census forms that hadn’t been submitted yesterday, but when I looked at the activity tracker today I’d done 10kms. Who would think walking around a museum and walking back and forward to car parks would rack up so many kms?

Day 6

Sunday 6th Sep
Used the app - it said I walked over 3 hours and did .4km. I’m going to stick to my Apple Watch- it said I walked 8.4km and that is more realistic as I’ve just spent 31/2 hours knocking on doors and buzzers following up census forms.

Day 5

Sunday 6th Sep
Not much walking today. quick walk around the block with Louie and then off to run an Austswim course. No census work today.

Day 4

Friday 4th Sep
Walk with dog, a walk to the shops, a swimming shift and then 2 hours knocking on doors for the census- no wonder I did so many km. on another note- I lost 1.6kg this week so all the walking has had a beneficial effect.πŸ˜„

Day 3

Thursday 3rd Sep
Day started with walking the dog 1.3km), towed by a shift at the museum doing a highlights tour, next was a 2 hour swim shift (teaching swimming) and finally knocking on doors following up tardy census forms. the kms certainly mount up.

Day 2

Wednesday 2nd Sep
Walked the dog this morning and then an hour of census follow up think I need to go home and have a shower, I’m all hot and sweaty.

Day 1

Tuesday 1st Sep
Today I moved 8.2 km with a combination of teaching swimming and following up census materials
