Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm aiming to complete at least  78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.

But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving to fight this terrible disease.

My Dad was taken by pancreatic cancer in 2002 at the age of 62. Way too young and way too quickly

Please make a donation to support me, and together...

We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.

Day 2

Wednesday 2nd Sep
5.4km on the tready after a hectic day. Pleased with that effort as was aiming for 2-3k as haven’t run much recently outside of netball.

I wanted this blog to be a place filled with happy memories of Dad and the large impact he had on my life. But on the treadmill tonight, I was reminded of how quickly Dad was taken from us and how painful it was to watch our strong, ox of a man disappear before our eyes. A past boxer, pancreatic cancer dealt Dad his biggest fight and took him way too early (62yo) and oh so cruelly. He fought til the very end, even holding on in his final hours for me to travel 4hours back home after taking a mini break from caring for him. In the end, it was a blessing it took him so quickly. No one deserves that pain. Love you Dad xx

My earliest memory

Tuesday 1st Sep
Ine if my earliest memories with Dad was from when I was about 3yo. Dad was on his way to work and dropping me off at a family friend’s. I remember not wanting to let go and clinging to him so tightly that I broke his watch, or ‘wristlet’ as he called it. He gave me THAT look, the one of disappointment and I knew to cut the nonsense and off he went without another word. I didn’t want to stay with Nanna H, I wanted to stay with Dad and drive around in his red Torana all day.
All these years later, I married  Holden freak who spends much of his time driving around in his Holdens with at least one of his own little girls ❤️
