Running 156km for Dad: Beating the 13%
This September, I'm not just walking.. I’m running to raise vital funds, but just as important, awareness, for the 78 Australians who lose their life to pancreatic cancer every week.
I'm also doing this for my dad.
He was diagnosed in February this year. A fit, active man with no warning signs, like so many others. Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest cancers to detect and one of the hardest to beat.
12 Australians are diagnosed every day. It's the 3rd biggest cancer killer in the country, and the five year survival rate sits at just 13%, one of the lowest of any cancer.
So this month, this is more than just a walk for me. It honours my dad, his vision of helping others, and ensuring no family ever has to go through this in the future.
I'm ready to lace up and beat the 13%.
