Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer
This September, I'm walking 78km for the 78 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
My mum died of pancreatic cancer in 2017 age 61. She wasn’t Australian, she was Czech however this cancer doesn’t discriminate any nationality. She had minimal symptoms which were misdiagnosed as a gallbladder stones. She was sent to hospital after her liver blood test showed some abnormal results. Only then they said they are suspecting something with her pancreas and did a biopsy. Results took three weeks to return. She died one week after results proved pancreatic cancer. It was extremely sad and unexpected. I was living in Sydney Australia and barely made it to see her. I arrived to Czech on Monday night, spent Tuesday with her and she died on Wednesday early morning. Early diagnosis are almost impossible for this type if cancer because of the position of pancreas deep inside the abdominal cavity.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 78km to fight this terrible disease.
Please make a donation to support me, and together...
We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.
