Support my challenge to fight pancreatic cancer
This September marks 6 months since we lost our special person and the most beautiful soul - a loving husband and Papa.
I'm walking 71km for the 71 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
Pancreatic cancer is now the 4th biggest cancer killer in Australia, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating. Majority are diagnosed at Stage 4 as there are no early detection methods.
Vij had no previous medical conditions. A few weeks prior to diagnosis we were on holiday in Greece and Turkey where he developed some mild stomach pain. Arriving back from an overseas holiday and being diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer the following day came as a shock and completely changed our lives. He fought for 11 months with immense strength
If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow, there is only a 12.5% chance you'll be alive in 5 years. However if you are diagnosed at Stage 4, the survival rate becomes 3%.
Research can change this. If you are able to, your donation will help fund life-saving pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
I miss my soulmate, so this September, I'm challenging myself to walk 71km to fight this lethal disease in honour of the strongest person I know-my husband, and to help save young lives lost to pancreatic cancer.
