My target 63 kms

We are walking for the double trouble, double duo!

This September, Kooper, Hunter, Kerry and I are walking 63km each for the 63 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.

This time 2 years ago (just before Father's Day) we were saying farewell to the best thing that happened to me- my partner Paul, awesome dad to Kooper and Hunter. At the age of 59 years Paul left us after living his last 3 with Pancreatic Cancer. Crazy and quirky in everything they did, Paul hung up his unicycle the day before starting chemo after managing a 5km ride (usually 25km a day). Fours years later and to the week, Paul's older brother Ian and loving husband to Kerry was also diagnosed with the same cancer, his journey only 3 weeks, passing just before Christmas last year. This year, the first in a long time, Ian did not ride the rapids of the Avon and Swan rivers with his Avon Decsent challengers (in person) in Perth.

Pancreatic cancer is now the 3rd biggest cancer killer of Australians, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow, there is only a 10% chance you'll be alive in 5 years.

Paul and Ian, our combined 252km's are for the double trouble, double duo! Love your Darling, Kooper, Hunter and Kerry.

PS. In memory of the double duo I have signed up for a double duo challenge and have another Team with dad, Giving Up Something (because the old fella can't really manage 63km these days even though he would like to). Instead, and although still in lockdown 3 months later, we have given up the vino (crazy I know!). You can support us here: Remember September - Sarah Trant

TEAM UPDATE as of 12 Sept! The better half of Captain Kaos and his crew is helping us out after Kerry busted her ankle and is now in a moonboot! Jen will be picking up Kerry's 63km (no pressure) and giving up the vino in solidarity as well. Welcome aboard Jen!
