Support my challenge to end pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm walking 75km for the 75 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.

Pancreatic cancer is the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.

But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 75km to fight this terrible disease.

Monday 29th Sep
Hey! I have exceeded that pledged distance of 75km and still gave a day to go! So pleased with self! (Pats to my back!) I feel good, legs are a wee bit trimmer, feet are probs a bit tender. All of that is nothing compared to the journey that someone who is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and their people, are forced to confront. Sometimes mere weeks. Thank you to all of you, my supporters. And especially my gorgeous mum. A survivor of pancreatic cancer. Keep being kind! 💜💜

Catching up

Thursday 25th Sep
It has been a few days of fail to blog. Thus was mainly duevto bio-tech failure preventing my walking. Back on track last night with a beach walk in the gauzy light of sunset. I am so lucky to live where I do and so close to the water.

Day 18

Thursday 18th Sep
Busy work day so I have utilised my work journeys as contributing to my walking today. On arriving home after a new hair do, I found a parcel from Pankind. It contained a silicone band to promote “Remember September”. Very cool.

Day 17

Wednesday 17th Sep
The wind has dropped and the waves mellowed, sunrise and sunset were so sweet today. There are still ning nongs on the road driving! Birthday month morning tea at work today, somehow it was all about me!! love it❤️💜🧡💜❤️🧡

Sunday 14th Sep
Birthday shenanigans! A big walk to the gelato shop, yummy double scoop! Beautiful calls and messages during the walk! So lucky!🍀

Thursday 11th Sep
ru ok? A swim as well as some steps this afternoon. The ocean was lovely and the sun still warm on my skin. 💜💜💜

Wednesday 10th Sep
A minimal walk day today with so many things to attend to after work. A break from cooking dinner too, some yummy thai food on its way to our beach front table! so lucky to live where we do. 💜💜💜

Day 9

Tuesday 9th Sep
A night time walk around Cooee Bay after a yummy roadt pork dinner made by the maternal unit!! A lovely full moon night, solid breeze but not cold. Almost 3 k done in the dark!

Day 8

Tuesday 9th Sep
A walk without my warm up/down people (Mum & Sashi), mum under the weather and Sashi in doggo heaven, well where all the good dogs go to bring back big sticks (branches really) and chase balls that we repeatedly lose/throw away, never learning that the retrieval service is for us not them! There was ample time to reflect upon the glorious life of Sashi/Slasha McBite during the walk this evening. I will miss her tremendously and am grateful for her love. I did gave a giggle though Tam, there was a rather large and threatening soldier crab scurrying away (body about 1cm across!) before I could take a picture it had buried itself in the wet sand!! 🤣🤣

A short and slow walk, mostly with my Sashi girl. ❤️

a long harsh on the feet walk of 8k with Grae and Chilli-dog from Kinka to Ritamada headlands return!

The water was lovely, the waves laughing at me as I made my way along the sand!

We started a bit later this evening along south Lammermoor beach path. The sunset vibes were gorgeous! My mum warmed me up for a bit longer tonight! Good on you mum! And I had some interesting supporters tonight! The strong silent types! 🦀🦀🦀🦀

Day one!

Monday 1st Sep
A late start on say one, but 3 km done along the beautiful Yeppoon foreshore path. Warm up and warm down pace with my gorgeous mum, with a burst of speed in between as she waited for my return! Shout out to the kind folk who stopped to check on mum as she waited!! It feels great to have started! Three down. Seventy two to go!
