My target 102 kms

I'm Moving It this September for my hero, my dad

This September, I'm walking/running 102kms for my amazing father and the 63 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.

Pancreatic cancer is now the 3rd biggest cancer killer of Australians, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

Our story is like that of many others… the only early symptom in my father was weight loss. For over a year,  dad had countless scans and tests to understand why, but there was no evidence of anything sinister leaving us baffled. On 30th April 2021 the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer was made, devastating us as a family. Dads decline was fast, and he lost the fight on 10th August 2021 after only 3 and a half short months.

If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow, there is only a 10% chance you'll be alive in 5 years.

But research can change this. Your support will fund life-saving pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates in the hope that other sufferers and their families get more time, or better still, don’t have to endure the loss that we are currently experiencing.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up and get moving through my grief to walk/run 102kms, one kilometre for every day dad knowingly lived with pancreatic cancer.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and help fund life-changing pancreatic cancer research in the hope of earlier detection and a greater chance of survival.

For you dad. My first love. My Hero.
