In 2022, I lost my incredible Mum, Sandy — and the devastation is still hard to put into words. She was the brightest light in any room, with a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Selfless to her core, Mum was the embodiment of kindness and compassion.
She was first diagnosed when I was 15. My sister was 17 and my brother only 13. Her oncologist told us she had just a 5% chance of surviving five years.
But Mum defied the odds and lived for 7 remarkable years — a testament to her strength and to the advancements in pancreatic cancer research.
Pancreatic cancer is severely underfunded. That needs to change.
This September, I’m walking 75km in honour of the 75 Australians who lose their lives to pancreatic cancer every week.
Every day, 12 more Australians are diagnosed. It's now the third leading cause of cancer death in the country.
Research is the key to changing these devastating statistics. Your donation will help fund life-saving pancreatic cancer research and give families a better chance — so others don’t have to go through what we did.
I’m walking 75km this September to fight this disease and to honour the memory of my amazing Mum, Sandy.
