This September, I'm walking 75km for the 75 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week. My mum, Kay, passed away from this disease September 2024, after a very courageous fight right to the end. A nurse who spent much of her life caring for others, who loved her kids, grandkids, family and friends with all she had. We miss her more than words can express and I am walking in hopes research can help with early detection and/or treatments with higher success rates than currently seen so other families can have their loved ones with them longer. My uncle is now also fighting this disease - it’s a gruelling and tough cancer to fight and I am also walking for him to show we are with him every step of the way.
Pancreatic cancer is the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 75km to fight this terrible disease.

Walking in memory of my mum, Kay. Loved by so many for being selfless and caring to all. She fought hard, even when in immense pain, tried not to complain or burden anyone. The pain of losing her is still so raw and I hope raising some money for research and support of other families will help lift some of their pain. My uncle and my friends’ mum are currently fighting pancreatic cancer, I step for them too, and am thinking of them and their families as they navigate their way through this diagnosis.
