In memory of my dad Derek George Williams UK
Dad called me from my home country of England in February of this year to wish me a Happy 21st Wedding Anniversary, to then drop the bombshell of his diagnosis. Dad passed away on May 28… 16 weeks later.
This September, his birth month and Aussie Fathers Day, I'm walking 80km for the 75 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week. I’ve chosen 80km because dad was 80 years old.
Pancreatic cancer is the toughest common cancer, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
Right now, 12 Australians are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day. It is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia.
But research can change this. Your support will fund groundbreaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 80km to fight this terrible disease.

I left my dad at Heathrow Airport departure gate in 2002…with his blessing.. to set up a life on the other side of the world. It was the hardest goodbye I had ever done…until now. My dad passed away with Pancreatic Cancer in May 2025…just 16 weeks after calling me on my 21st Wedding Anniversary. My dad travelled 3 times after 2002.. to give me away on my wedding day, and then to represent UK Godparents at the baptisms of our 2 children in 2005 and 2008. I love you Dad Thankyou for giving me a wonderful life.
