Support my challenge to fight pancreatic cancer - supporting my mum!
A tough one for me!!! My mum has just been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. We are busy making as many memories as we can in the very short time that we have left with her.
I didn't know too much about Pancreatic Cancer, and now I wish I didn't need to know the specifics, but here we are. I saw this Pankind Remember September come up in my feed and perfect timing to see an opportunity to do something small in the hope that one day others don't need to go through this
This September, I'm walking 71km for the 71 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
My big challenge here is that I am also training for a Half Ironman Distance Triathlon in September, I could use the training for that to add to my 71km...but I feel that in true honour of those fighting this horrid disease like my mum (Nancy), I will aim to do this 71km above and beyond my training! These feet will be made for walking!!!
Pancreatic cancer is now the 4th biggest cancer killer in Australia, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow, there is only a 12.5% chance you'll be alive in 5 years.
But research can change this. Your support will fund life-saving pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
