Support my challenge to fight pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm walking  225km  for the 75 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week and of course for mum.

Pancreatic cancer is now the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.

If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow, there is only a 13% chance you'll be alive in 5 years. Mum had less than 2 months and she declined by the day.

But research can change this. Your support will fund ground-breaking pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 225km to fight this terrible disease.

Please make a donation to support me, its the only way to fight this into the future for our kids and generations ahead.

Im doing this challenge for “Noelene Elsie Wilson” she was 77yo and born Christmas Day in 1939. She was the matriarch of our family,  she was strong, caring and one of the most important people in my life and I miss her every day.

My Memory Wall for my mum, Noelene Elsie

My Tribute Post

A florist and wedding specialist. The most creative person I know and she was my mum. Born on xmas day in 1939 in Penrith passed in Port Macquarie NSW, we lost her in 2017 to quick. When mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage 4, the disease took her in 7 weeks. From diagnosis to her death., Her beautiful five kids and my siblings cared for at home. Mum (Noelene) died at home with us. Her wishes and we stayed heroic as her kids. The disease was quick. Im doing this for mum, one day she was at the footy watching her beloved Panthers the next we were watching sunsets.

Day 13. lazy walk recovery day.

Saturday 13th Sep
After a big week of averaging 12km a day, I am feeling a little tired today. planning for a big walk tomorrow but still may go out again this afternoon. 62% ✅ done. Maggie was feeling the heat too.

Day 12. tgif 8.2kms

Friday 12th Sep
Yay. 🙌 its Friday. 5am start this morning, Maggie and I were feeling pretty good so we slow jogged most of the way. It was another glorious morning, I am really enjoying getting up earlier than most people, its a lot quieter and only a few people out. I like to think about why I am doing this, my legs hurt and I am tired but to think what Mum went through especially the end stages. Its all I can do now to support others going through this horrific cancer and I am grateful I decided to do it. enjoy your weekend xx 💛💜

Day 11. halfway mark

Thursday 11th Sep
Fresh spring morning, Maggie excited to go out for her walk. Townies looked great for a surf, very clean and safe.

Day 10. world suicide prevention day 9.2km

Wednesday 10th Sep
This morning Maggie and I headed out at 5am to get 9km done for WSPD before work, at first some rain around westport park, so we ventured through the CBD for a bit before heading out to the beaches. We saw lots of Dolphins 🐬 at the tip of breakwall and  passed  around 1000 🏃‍♀️ runners. 💜💛

Day 9 pretty morning 8.2km

Tuesday 9th Sep
A couple of spits of rain this morning, the clouds over the ocean with the sunrise made a gorgeous spray of colours. I love this time in the morning. Maggie and I managed a longer walk, it was hard to pull yourself away from the ocean to go to work. 🙏💛💜so blessed living here.

Day 8 start of another week

Monday 8th Sep
Maggie and I kicked off again  just after 5am. A little chilly this morning with a fresh breeze and damp dew on the ground. The moon looked eerie in the west sky and so did this man who asked me “did I knick the moon”🤪several times, as he rode off towards the sunrise on his scooter. Interesting morning.

Day 3 beautiful morning

Wednesday 3rd Sep
Maggie and I are increasing speed by adding a little run, this morning we both felt good and slow jogged to Oxley Beach and home.
