Support my challenge to fight pancreatic cancer
Last year when I took part in Remember September I had no idea what the following months would look like.
In November my husband Josh had the Whipples operation and following a lot of complications spent 3 weeks in a coma and 10 weeks in hospital. Since then there's been a lot of return stays in hospital and ongoing chemotherapy, but he is here and I am incredibly grateful for that. I know that for most who receive a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer that the survival rate is very poor - if you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer tomorrow there is only a 12.5% chance you'll be alive in 5 years.
So, this September, I'm walking 71km for the 71 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer each week.
Pancreatic cancer is now the 4th biggest cancer killer in Australia, and because early-stage pancreatic cancer rarely causes symptoms, the survival rates are devastating.
But research can change this. Your support will fund life-saving pancreatic cancer research and improve survival rates.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 71km to fight this terrible disease.
Please make a donation to support me, and together...
We will remember them. We will honour them. We will fight for them.
